Stella Clavisque Maris Indici

The dodo was born in the peaceful wilderness of Mauritius and lived all it's life among other friendly creatures. Well .. almost all it's life, because towards the end of (Dodo) time, it became so complacent, it would walk towards incoming human predators from the bright sandy beaches of the coast.

In human perspective this was great, I mean, think about that for a second ... Say you're on holiday when a severely unexpected hunger strikes you in the heat. Now picture this .. a burger and chips with icy cold non-alcoholic beer walks towards you .. plof' plof' .. what would you do? Yep .. same here, non-alcoholic beer is just not acceptable

The taste of the Dodo couldn't have been that appetising. This was a lazy bird full of fat, I'm surprised they didn't all die with cholesterol blocked arteries ... or may be the Dutch and Portuguese who made it to the island weren't great chefs. Nevertheless, in the end they were all eaten .. probably grilled served with drops of lemon on a stick, barbecued, fried, boiled with salt. They didn't survive their race.

Anyway a very interesting bird from a very interesting island where we now have interesting people. In my last trip to Mauritius, I had a friend who now has a beautiful Mauritian wife. The first comment he said to me about Mauritians were that they all walk like the dodo's .. you know .. plof plof. You look round and you get to see what he means .. so laid back .. so complacent .. peaceful surroundings ..
